Fully Configurable ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 Outdoor Panel PC in 15.6" and 21.5"

The Acura Embedded Systems RoughNeck is the flagship product of Acura: a fully configurable, ATEX, IECEx, C1D2 and C1Z2 certified outdoor panel PC, developed for permanent deployment in potentially explosive and climatically extreme outdoor environments across sectors including oil and gas, mining, offshore and process industry.

The device is available in two display sizes, 15.6 inch and 21.5 inch, both housed in a robust aluminum alloy enclosure with IP65 ingress protection on all sides and an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +60 °C.

The RoughNeck is available with 12th Generation Intel Core i5-1235U or i7-1255U processors, or with 14th Generation Intel Core Ultra 5-135U or Ultra 7-165U processors for higher computational performance, combined with DDR5 RAM from 8 to 64 GB and PCIe NVMe SSD storage up to 4 TB per drive, optionally expanded with a second SATA SSD and RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration for redundancy and data security. The 1,000 nits AcuGlass display with projected capacitive multi-touch is 3 mm scratch resistant, anti-glare and features a black ceramic oil coating for optimal readability in direct sunlight and wet operating conditions.

The modular I/O design is fully configurable: the customer selects only the connectors required for their specific application, including up to two Gigabit Ethernet ports (optionally with PoE), up to three USB 3.0 ports, serial RS232 or RS485 interfaces, and wireless options ranging from Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth to 4G/5G/LTE and 900 MHz radio.

A unique feature of the RoughNeck is its dedicated integration space for customer-specific hardware, including MWD pressure decoders, DAC cards, modems and PLC controllers, enabling the RoughNeck to function as an integrated central HMI unit for control rooms and drilling platforms. Optional AirJet solid-state cooling improves thermal performance by up to 30% in extreme temperature environments. The RoughNeck is certified to ISO 9001, CSA, UL, CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS standards.
